Carmel football

No team has ever made the Central Coast Section playoffs in the Mission Trail Athletic League with three league losses.
Which means Carmel's final two league games should be looked upon as playoff type games.
Both are on the road in King City and Pacific Grove.
Of course, if the Padres run the table, a share of the league title will be a part of the equation, as well as a ninth straight postseason appearance.
But this isn't the same MTAL.
Soledad has taken a step forward. Pacific Grove is the defending champions. And King City hopes to play the role of spoiler.
Carmel's failure to produce a touchdown in Friday's 9-3 loss to Soledad goes back to 2003, a stretch of 132 games.
Remember, the Padres came into the game averaging nearly 50 points in MTAL play.
Give some credit to Soledad. It has kept four teams out of the end zone this year.
Yet, this is also a Carmel offense that turned the ball over six times in a game earlier this year and has had penalties at unopportunist times in the red zone.
Covering up mental mistakes is more difficult against quality opponents.
