When you look at the whole picture, this wasn't as big of a gamble as it seemed.
A two-point conversation was the reason Seaside landed in overtime with the Toreadores in the first place.
So why not go for two in an attempt to win the game outright in OT?
"No hesitation,'' Seaside coach Al Avila said.
Are you surprised?
The Spartans had all the momentum, rallying from a 14-point second half deficit to tie the game at 14 with 14 seconds left.
Plus, it hadn't attempted an extra point on its previous two touchdowns.
Of course, Seaside left people on both sides holding their breath on the games final play, when the ball was fumbled before Jesse Morales picked it up and slithered into the end zone.
The result? Pandemonium on one side, utter shock on the other.
Seaside has two Central Coast Section divisional titles on its resume. However, here's betting this was one of the programs biggest wins ever.
This wasn't just another game.
It was Monterey, where pride goes back five decades between these two rivals.
Emotions run deep.
Seldom do games live up to the hype. This one exceeded it.
