Mission Trail Athletic League
1. Santa Catalina: Didn't have one senior in the starting lineup last year.
2. Carmel: The reigning champions are replacing four all-leaguers.
3. King City: Never underestimate a team coached by Debbie Hudson.
4. Gonzales: Looking to rebound from last year's disappointing season.
5. Anzar: A strong finish has created high expectations this season.
6. Stevenson: Could this team filled with youth last fall be ready to make a move?
7. Soledad: Has had just one winning season in the history of the program.
8. Pacific Grove: Things can only get better for the Breakers.
Monterey Bay League
Gabilan Division
1. Notre Dame: Might have the best player in the county in hitter Nikki DeSerpa.
2. Salinas: Replacing nine players might be a tall order for the defending champions.
3. San Benito: Believes it's capable of contending for supremacy in the Gabilan.
4. Monte Vista: The core of last year's 19 win team is intact.
5. Christopher: Having your setter and libero back is a good starting point.
6. Monterey: The Pacific Division champions have a big task in the Gabilan.
7. Watsonville: Bumped into the Gabilan, the Wildcatz were just 1-7 outside the Pacific last fall.
Pacific Division
1. Alvarez: Two years ago the Eagles were Pacific Division champions.
2. Seaside: Placed into the Pacific will give the Spartans time to retool.
2. North Salinas: There were flashes of optimism in the preseason.
4. Alisal: Replacing its top hitter and setter will take some time.
5. Gilroy: Sometimes success isn't always measured in wins.
6. North County: Looking for a bounce back year after enduring growing pains last fall.
7. Pajaro Valley: Hasn't posted a winning season since capturing a title in 2009.
