Palma-St. Francis football

Friday's game
Palma (1-0) at St. Francis (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
The second of four straight reigning section champions awaits the Chieftains, who were dominate in a 42-14 win last week over Northern Section champion Sutter.
The defending CCS Division II champion Lancers used 118 yards rushing from Lutoviko Ahoia in their season opening 28-13 win over Oak Grove.
St. Francis completed just two passes last week, but averaged 61 yards a completion. Keep an eye on 220 pound linebacker Kevin Glajchen, who recorded 12 tackles last week.
While Palma limited Emilio Martinez's carries to 15 last week, the junior tailback still rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns, running through holes that got bigger as the game wore on.
You can't stack the box to stop Martinez when quarterback Jack Richardson is throwing for over 200 yards and three touchdowns. Liam McMillin is an underrated tight end for Palma.
The Chieftains did turn the ball over twice last week and had a pair of penalties that stalled drives.
Palma is 3-2-1 in its last six non-league meetings (playoffs included) with the Lancers, including last year's 21-12 win. It's 4-1-1 in non-league games.
The two teams have faced each other in the playoffs four times with the Chieftains winning three of those battles, including a 17-13 decision in 2003 to win the CCS Division I title.

St Francis Kevin Glajchen is a D1A prospect and I would expect SF's QB to throw more tonight. They had some success passing last year in the second half and they have lots of speed at WR and a QB that can throw the ball. Their offense has tended to be conservative, but the second year starter at QB is mobile and is an accurate and gifted passer. Should be a very tough game.
