I'm sure this wasn't the pre-game script.
Yet, for a program searching for an identity, North Salinas got their peers attention.
So it took a year for players and coaches to get on the same page.
There's more than just hope today.
The confidence likely shot up a level or two after going into Alvarez and posting a 29-15 decision.
A no-name defense -- anchored by 5-foot-5 linebacker Armando Armenta, arrived as a unit for North Salinas, producing two touchdowns while creating three turnovers.
While 115 yards in penalties is a concern -- 90 occurred in the first half. In other words, the Vikings cleaned up their act in the second half.
Of course, North Salinas started last year 2-0 before dropping its final eight.
But this feels different.
A stunner?
Depends on what side of the field you were on.
North Salinas just beat a playoff team, a rival. That will boost anyone's moral.
