Monterey-Half Moon Bay football

Friday's game
Monterey (0-0) at Half Moon Bay (0-0), 7 p.m.
Last year the Cougars bounced back from a 48-23 season opening setback to Monterey, and the loss of an assistant coach to a heart attack before the game, to go 7-4 and make the postseason.
The Toreadores have won eight or more games three straight years since moving into the Gabilan Division.
Akili Jones may be the most dynamic tailback in the area with a combination of speed and vision. He may also be the only 1,000 yard running back starting on defense.
The new look Toreadores offense has been slow to develop. But the players have embraced it. And there's no ignoring the potential of Jones breaking free each time he touches the ball.
One thing these two teams have in common is a lack of depth. The Toreadores hope to suit up 28 players while Half Moon Bay has just 21 on its current roster.
Last week Monterey was missing two starting offensive lineman while another two way starter was  nursing a separated shoulder.

D'Shawn Hopkins from MVC has a good chance at making 1,000 yards and is starting on defense. Hes a stud

D'Shawn Hopkins from Monte Vista Christian High school is just as good as Jones if not better he has speed and power . He will have over 1000 and he's a starter on defense. Don't forget he did take his team the there first CCS in school history.

As I said before D'Shawn "The Beast" Hopkins would rush for a 1000 yards while playing Safety for Monte Vista Christian high school. He's has 1008 rushing 16 TD's with one more regular season game left before the playoffs.
