Monte Vista Christian-Soledad football

Friday's game
Monte Vista Christian (2-0) at Soledad (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
Anytime you go into Texas and come back with a win, it's big.
Is a Monte Vista letdown inevitable after an emotional come-from-behind win, in which quarterback Ryan Sphon connected with Parker Noonan late in the game?
 I don't think so.
If that combination sounds familiar, it's because Sphon hit Noonan last year with a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to help the Mustangs beat Soledad 13-9.
Soledad has had an extra week to gear up for the Mustangs, whose offense revolves around D'Shawn Hopkins, who has 205 rushing yards in the teams first two games.
Of course, it was Hopkins' extra point that was the difference in a 13-12 win over Trinity of Texas.
The Aztecs defense, anchored by Enrique Pacheco and Andrew Hernandez, has not allowed a point this year.
Eric Martinez was sharp in his debut behind center two weeks ago for Soledad, hitting Robert Lopez and Kevin Lemus a combined 11 times for 111 yards.

If Spohn completes his passes early the Mustangs will dominate Soledad. They won't be able to stack the box which will open holes for D'Shawn "The Beast" Hopkins to have a big game you can slow him down but you can't stop him..
