Menlo-Carmel football

Saturday's game
Menlo (0-0) at Carmel (0-0), 2 p.m.
A rematch of the 2009 CCS Division IV title game, in which Carmel posted a 56-35 win, Menlo has the distinction of giving Golden Anderson his first loss as a head coach after 14 games in 2010.
The Padres didn't show much in a scrimmage with North County and Gilroy last week. I'm guessing there will be a pass or two thrown in the direction of  John Stivers, who caught 63 passes last fall.
Menlo struggled last season in the Peninsula Bay Division, losing its last three games and failing to make the postseason.
Of course, two of the Knights division rivals ended up winning section titles in Sacred Heart Prep and Terra Nova.
While both teams have made it a habit in throwing the ball, the Padres have a punishing tailback in the fold in Covossay Windham, who rushed for over 1,600 yards last season.
Menlo lost its starting quarterback and top five receivers to graduation. Over the last three years, it has attempted nearly 1,000 passes.
