Friday's game
King City (0-1) at Hanford West (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
Stumbling in season openers is nothing unusual for the Mustangs, who have dropped their last six opening games.
Hanford gave up 55 points in a season opening loss to Fresno two weeks ago, but allowed just seven last week in a win over Corcoran.
Last fall Hanford came into King City and posted a 25-7 win, yet finished last in the West Yosemite League with just one win.
While King City will have to find a replacement for running back Wacey Barrington, who suffered a broken ankle last week, the Huskies have their full arsenal of weapons back from last year.
Ivan Garcia -- three touchdowns in the South County Jamboree two weeks ago for King City -- will fill in for Barrington in the tailback slot.
More designed runs for senior quarterback Jacob Flores could be in order for the Mustangs. Flores had his moments throwing the ball last week, hitting Jarod Davis for the teams only touchdown.
Hanford runs a spread attack, but has been effective in running the ball as well. After rattling off six straight road wins dating back to 2013, King City has dropped its last three on the road.
