Greenfield-Pajaro Valley football

Friday's game
Greenfield (1-0) vs. Pajaro Valley (1-0) at Cabrillo College, 7 p.m.
Two teams that combined for three wins last year already have two after the first week of the season, as Pajaro snapped a seven-game losing streak last week.
While the Bruins opened the year by stopping a two-point conversation late in the game for a 27-25 win over St. Francis, Pajaro made 13 first quarter points stand up in a 13-6 win over Santa Cruz.
This could be the fastest played game of the year as both the Grizzlies and Greenfield prefer to keep it on the ground a majority of the game.
In fact, Pajaro quarterback Jesus Fernandez was more effective with his legs, rushing for 90 yards.  But one of his three completions was a touchdown pass.
The Grizzlies have had success recently against teams in the Mission Trail Athletic League, posting a 5-2 record over the last three years.
Both of their wins last fall came against teams in the MTAL, including a 26-0 win over Greenfield in Week 2.
The Bruins showcased three running backs in last weeks win with Chris Carrillo rushing for a pair of touchdowns, including a 60-yarder that turned out to be the game winning points.
The Grizzlies last three wins dating back to 2014 have all come on the road. Greenfield has dropped 10 straight road games.
