King City football

How a team responds to adversity can dictate a season.
You don't pack it in after one loss.
Still, it's hard not to feel snakebitten if you're King City.
The last two years the Mustangs have been riddled with injuries.
One game into this season and King City losses its leading rusher over the last two years for the season to a broken ankle.
 Crushing?
 No doubt.
Yet, one questioned was answered Friday.
 The Mustangs have heart.
Starring at a 14-point deficit in 95 degree heat three hours from home, King City reversed the curse.
It battled back from adversity on two separate occasions in the fourth quarter, using a Jacob Flores touchdown run with no time left on the clock in a dramatic 27-26 win at Hanford West.
Yes, the Mustangs deserve to celebrate.
I don't know if this happens last year.
Granted, it's just one game. But it's a big win for the program. -- maybe the biggest in a decade.
Now King City has to piggy back off this win to make it more meaningful.
But relish this and don't forget the feeling of being hungry and unsatisfied.
