Football Tour XII (North Salinas)

North Salinas (2-8, 0-6)
It didn't start off all that bad last season for the Vikings, who opened the year with two straight wins.
Then the roof began to crumble.
The Gabilan Division is not a place to be when you're rebuilding with a new coach.
A winless league season has pushed North Salinas back into the Pacific Division this fall, where it belongs.
Couple that with a returning core of players and the Vikings will be a contender if everyone gets on the same page.
Tim Burkhardt, who tore up pitching during the spring in baseball as a sophomore, is expected to run the offense behind center. Last year five different players attempted passes.
Offensively, the Vikings struggled last season down the stretch, having been shutout in three of their final five games. The offensive line will be more stable this season.
Burkhardt looked sharp and accurate in practice.
North Salinas does have a difficult non-league season with Gabilan Division co-champion Salinas and Alvarez in the first two weeks, not to mention Pitman High of Turlock in Week 4.
Confidence will be critical going into league play. Improvement can be measured in more ways than wins.
