Football Tour XI (Alvarez)

Alvarez (8-4, 3-3)
Nineteen wins over the last two years.
That's two more wins than the program had combined for during a run of 11 straight losing seasons.
If there was skepticism after a school record 11-win season in 2013, it was erased last year when the Eagles moved into the Gabilan Division and still won eight games.
Stability and confidence can be lethal when it's surrounded with talent.
So can leadership. A week into practice, five captains called head coach David Bottom and asked if they could have bigger roles as leaders.
While Alvarez lost some big parts to its offense last year, its offensive line is as big and talented as any in the area, anchored by Aldo Flores. It will move piles to grind the ball.
Don't overlook quarterback Joziah Garcia, who displayed a nice touch in practice and knows the system.
Controlling the ball means keeping a young defense off the field and fresh. But that defense will be nasty this fall with Flores a big part of it.
Alvarez has relied on fast starts to build momentum, having opened the last two seasons 4-0.
The Eagles have been a strong road team over the past two years, posting an 8-2 record. Two of their three home losses have come from San Benito -- both in the CCS Division I semifinals.
