Football Tour VI (King City)

King City (4-6, 3-4)
Only one program in Monterey County has had a longer postseason drought than the Mustangs, who have not been to the playoffs since 2006.
While expectations have been high the last two years, the program has not lived up to the preseason hype.
King City isn't taming those expectations this year. It's just not talking about them. But it's not going to sneak up on anyone in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
Quarterback Jacob Flores has a full season under his belt and a complete grasp of the offense. King City will have tailback Wacey Barrington for a full season and tight end Jarod Davis is back.
Those are two critical ingredients to an offense that missed all or chunks of last season. It made a difference.
I think the Mustangs offense will be fine behind offensive lineman Steve McEnroe. Defensively, it has to eliminate mistakes that give teams an extra play on a drive.
Slow starts have been a common theme during the Mustangs playoff drought, having had just one winning non-league season over the last 10 years.
To take it a step further, King City trailed in nine of its 10 games last year. Then again, the last year it made the playoffs, it was 0-4 in the preseason.
