Carmel assistant water polo coach Frank Reynolds was among five swimmers that combined to set a new relay record from Capitola to Lovers Point, a 26 mile journey in the Pacific Ocean, using English Channel rules.
Joining Reynolds was Thomas Dietrich, Paul Reynolds, Joe Schertier and Michael Sharf. The fab five took turns swimming in the choppy waters, starting at 3:30 a.m., finishing in under 12 hours.
Frank Reynolds is a former two-time All-American in water polo while Dietrich currently plays on the OtterBay Masters water polo team.
