The Herald's 2013 Male Athlete of the Year should get a chance to start at Loyola Marymount right away next spring behind the dish.
Last year's starting catching for the Lions hit .138 in 42 starts.
"I see it as an expectation, not a reward for what I did at Santa Barbara,'' Hill said.
Hill earned All-State, All-Region and All-American status last spring as a catcher for Santa Barbara City College, helping them to the postseason.
The conference MVP last spring, the right-handed hitting Hill hit .382 in the regular season, driving in a team high 34 runs in 41 games.
Defensively, Hill sported a .980 fielding percentage, throwing out 12 base runners.
Hill will get a chance to catch Loyola Marymount pitcher Tyler Knight, who prepped at Carmel.
Hill was a member of The Herald's All-County football and baseball teams as a senior at Monterey
