Candidates for Athlete of the Year

Carina Welch, Alvarez

 A three-sport standout for the Eagles, Welch led the volleyball team in kills last fall with 228 and service aces with 48. She also compiled 208 digs.

On the hardwood, Welch was a contributor in the backcourt for Alvarez, who won 15 games and reached the Division I playoffs for the first time in 15 years.
Welch capped her season by winning Pacific Division track and field titles in the 100 and 200 meters, running a leg on the Eagles school record 400 relay team, which reached the CCS finals.
