Scotts Valley-Santa Catalina softball

Central Coast Section Division III semifinals
Wednesday's game
No. 3 Scotts Valley (23-5) vs. No. 2 Santa Catalina (17-5), 6 p.m. at the Salinas Sports Complex.
Owners of 13 straight wins, the reigning five-time Mission Trail Athletic League champion Cougars are in the Division III semifinals for the fifth straight year.
Both teams were undefeated in their respective leagues.
Scotts Valley won the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League title and has rattled off 11 straight wins. It also has the distinction of having beaten Division III top seed Notre Dame back in March.
The Falcons have an abundance of power at the plate, led by Sigrid Halthrop, who has seven home runs this year, having driven in 35 runs.
Santa Catalina has three of the more prolific hitters in the county in Tatumn Satow, Marissa Bruno and Vanessa Furman.
Pitching has keyed both teams' surges to the top. Lauren Garcia has won her last 13 outings while Scotts Valley has held 16 teams to a run or less this spring behind Sarah Reyes.
