Palma-Sacred Heart Prep baseball

CCS Division II baseball playoffs
Wednesday's game, 4 p.m.
No. 13 Palma (14-13) at No. 4 Sacred Heart Prep (17-12)
An argument can be made that Palma is already in postseason mood, overcoming a six-game losing streak to go 4-2 down the stretch to get one of the final two playoff spots out of the Gabilan.
Junior Matt Smith has sizzled at the plate all season, leading the team in hits, homers and runs batted in. No one has been better of late on the hill than Cameron Crone, who is 6-0 this year for Palma.
The Gators finished third in the Peninsula Bay Division, and were involved in 10 one-run games this year, going 5-5.
Palma will likely see hurler Will Johnston on the mound for Sacred Heart. The senior is 7-2 with a 2.35 earned run average.
Andrew Daschbach, a tight end/linebacker on the Gators Open Division championship football team, is hitting .438 with 18 runs batted in.
