The word three-peat rings at Santa Catalina and King City.
The two programs are chasing history.
The Mustangs boys program -- arguably a top 10 team this year in the Central Coast Section -- will be the favorites Friday to make it three straight Mission Trail Athletic League track titles.
Santa Catalina, who didn't win the programs first title until 2013, are heavy favorites to make it three straight in the girls division.
Neither program has ever won three consecutive league titles
One of the premier sprinters in the state will step on the track for the Cougars in sophomore Mikayla Revera, who is ranked in the top 10 this spring in the state in the 400.
The reigning MTAL 200 and 400 meter champion, Revera will likely run legs on both relay teams, which will be the favorites.
Anchored by the sections No. 2 1,600 meter runner in Edgar Bonilla, King City is going to dominate the distance events, producing as much as 72 points in three events.
The Mustangs could pile up another 38 points in the weight events where Steven McEnroe is among the CCS leaders in the discus. King City also has the top two marks in the triple jump.
Pacific Grove sophomore Zach Miller will look to defend league titles in the 100 and 200 while Max Schrock is the favorite in both hurdle races and the pole vault.
