At this rate, a promotion may be in order for pitcher Michael Jensen, who has been flat out filthy in a relief role for the Chicago Cubs Double A team in Tennessee.
The hard-throwing right-hander has made 12 appearances this year, allowing just one earned run in 18 2/3 innings. Jensen has a streak of 11 consecutive scoreless innings.Jensen, who prepped at Salinas and earned All-American honors at Hartnell College, has 19 strikeouts and sports an 0.48 earned run average. He is 1-1 with one save.
After starting 26 games in 2012, Jensen was converted to a reliever following Tommy John surgery in 2013. Last year he was 7-4 with a 2.65 earned run average for the Cubs Class A affiliate.
