Do you really want another meet this late in the season when it's unnecessary?
If you ask Palma, I'd bet the answer would be NO.
The Chieftains 400 relay team, which was ranked No. 3 in the CCS, is out of next week's CCS trials after a hamstring injury to a member of the relay team kept them from qualifying.
The Master Meet is suppose to be a combination of the MBL's Gabilan Division and Pacific Division competing for spots in the CCS trials.
Yet, the reality is most of the athletes taking part come from the Gabilan Division based on marks from the previous week.
These two leagues held their league championships together a week earlier at the same site.
Couldn't you have taken those times and used them for the CCS trials.
Granted, this meet gives athletes a chance to specialize, with no team title at stake.
But it's a high risk. And one potential state qualifying team is done.

Agreed 100%. Most states go from league to state. In CA we go from league, to masters, to section trials, to section finals, to state trials, to state finals. The post season has become its own season. We need to trim, not add. All we saw last night was quality teams and individuals struggling to advance. Now we don't send the best our league offers to the meets that count the most. We shoot ourselves in the foot.
