In case you missed it, Diego Leon put on an historic performance over the weekend at that JC State track and field championships.
The Hartnell College distance ace became the first athlete ever to win the 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 meter runs at the state finals. Leon was also a state champion in cross country last fall.
Teammate Chase Pacheco was also a state champion in the two-day, 10-event decathlon, producing 6,706 points, the second highest score in the nation by a junior college athlete.
Pacheco, a Palma product, will compete next month in the Junior Nationals in Eugene, Oregon. The pair helped Hartnell finish sixth as a team at the state finals.
One more note.
The Panthers Rachel Shimabukuro and MPC's Anna Welsh were both Junior College All-Americans after Schimabukuro placed fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase, as did Welsh in the 10,000.

Forgot Malena Grover in fourth in the 5000m to earn All American. Her time was once again under Maria Trujillo old school record. It was Grover's third time beating the old mark of 18:04.
