First round playoff thoughts

What did we learn about Wednesday's first round of the Central Coast Section baseball playoffs?
Well, that the seedings in Division I and II meant virtually nothing.
Of the 16 games, 12 underdogs -- if that's even the proper word -- won on the road.
We're not talking about eight vs. nine.
The number 16, 15, 14, 13 and 12 seeds all won in Division I. And the number 15, 14, and 12 seeds won in Division II.
 A fluke? Or parity?
Five of the six teams from the West Catholic Athletic League were knocked out in the first round.
The biggest surprises were seeing D1 top seed North Salinas fall and DII No. 3 seed Soledad get knocked out at home -- a place where it was 10-1 this year.
Softball got it right - at least in terms of who was seeded.
There were only four upsets among the three divisions.
