CCS boys track trials

If your ambitions are to reach the Central Coast Section finals, Saturday will be about survival and placement at the CCS track and field trials at San Jose City College.
Among those targeting the following week for a peak performance is King City's Edgar Bonilla, who is ranked No. 2 in the 1,600 and No. 4 in the 3,200.
Bonilla, the MTAL champion in both events, has a season best of 4:18.66, achieved in winning the Top Eight Meet last month on the same track.
Teammate Steven McEnroe will go into the CCS trials ranked No. 3 in the discus at 160-3. While his positioning is not as critical, he cannot afford an off day.
San Benito junior Shraee Harrison has the top mark in the 400 (48.93) and is ranked No. 2 in the 200 (21.90). In 1993, his uncle and dad went 1-2 in the CCS 200 finals.
Looking to position himself for a spot in the 800 finals is Gabilan Division champion Raul Barraza of North Salinas, who is ranked No. 4 at 1:56.41.
Seaside's Paul Koenig has put his name in contention in the 300 intermediate hurdles, having been unchallenged in his last two meets at 40.09.
Carmel's Max Schrock is among six pole vaulters that have cleared 14 feet or higher this year while King City's Roman Munoz is an outside threat in the 3,200.
