Watsonville-Seaside softball

  Two teams that began the year flying under the radar are now contending for a Pacific Division title along with Alvarez.
  It should not come as a complete surprise.
  Last year Seaside was stuck in the Gabilan Division after winning the Pacific in 2013. The core of that 2013 title team is still in place.
  The Wildcatz have one of the better hurlers in the league in Samantha Sakai.
  You can make the argument that pitching has carried both teams as Kaitlyn Hernandez has put the Spartans on her right shoulder of late.
 Malia Usrey, Nicole Sayre and Marielle Tuazon has carried the lineup for Seaside, who fell 7-4 in its first meeting with the Wildcatz -- its only league loss of the season.
