Carmel-Pacific Grove baseball

Just once over the last 15 years has someone other than these two peninsula rivals won the Mission Trail Athletic League.
Once again the Breakers and Carmel are playing for first place late in the season.
Of course, they're not alone this spring as Soledad has put its name in the hat after splitting two games with both teams.
At this point, this game probably is more critical for the defending champion Padres, who sit a game behind Pacific Grove, and have a loss to their rival.
A Carmel win creates a three-way tie with Soledad. All three teams will face each other once over the final two weeks.
Right now the Breakers appear to have an edge in pitching with Nic Boatman and Dan Harrington,  not to mention Kacee Takasaki, who tossed a no-hitter on Tuesday.
Long Beach State bound Chris Fife and Anthony Coppla have carried Pacific Grove at the plate, combining for 52 hits this year, 20 of which have gone for extra bases.
The Padres lineup is stacked with five different players have homered this year. Lennie Rodriguez has ripped five while John Stivers and Bryson Lino have six multiple hit games.
