Salinas-North Salinas softball

A return to league play after an extended spring break means teams begin making their playoff push for the final four weeks of the season.
Fourteen years removed from the programs last league championship, North Salinas is off to its best start since winning its last section title in 2003 at 14-2.
The 14 wins already surpasses last year's entire total of 10.
Since starting the season 3-7, Salinas  has won four out of its last five behind power hitter Harlee Noda to creep to within one game of .500.
The Vikings have hit the ball  hard all year with Kaitlyn Shipman spraying the ball all over the field and Alyssa Salazar and Serena Castaneda packing a punch with a pair of homers.
While Salinas has given up the second most runs in the county, North Salinas has produced the most runs with 121.
