CSUMB softball

On pace to break the single-season school record for wins, conference champion CSUMB is looking to do something it's never achieved.
And that's to capture a California Collegiate Athletic Association title and a conference tournament crown in the same season.
The four-time CCAA champion Otters quest begins Friday when they face Chico State in Stockton.
Not that the Otters needed any incentive. But if they did, Chico State is the only team to take a series from them this season. In fact, three of their 10 overall losses were administered by the Wildcats.
At 44-10, CSUMB is four wins shy of tying the school record, set last year with 48.
A big part of the Otters success has come from three-time All-American Cori Reinhardt, who set the single-season school record for wins this spring in the circle with 27.
Reinhardt (27-2) is a throwback as she's also hitting over .400 for the nationally ranked Otters, and is up for Division II Player of the Year honors.
Teammate Madison Casto is 10 hits away from breaking the single-season school record for hits of 82, set last year by teammate Bianca Noriega, who has 67 this season.
Ranked No. 7 in the nation in Division II and No. 2 in the Regionals, the Otters will likely host the Western Regionals, regardless of this weekends tournament outcome.
