Palma-Riordan basketball

Thursday's game
Open Division consolation final
No. 6 Palma (22-4) at No. 5 Riordan (16-10), 7 p.m.
The Chieftains could really enhance a potential second home game in the State Northern California Division IV playoffs with a win tonight.
Two of Palma's four losses this year have come from teams in the West Catholic Athletic League in Mitty and St. Francis.
Riordan split its two games with Mitty and St. Francis, beating both of them at home. In fact, the Crusaders are 11-3 at home.
The Chieftains have to find a way to contain 6-foot-3 sharpshooting guard Eddie Stansberry, who is averaging just under 19 points a game for Riordan.
Seven guys stand 6-3 or taller for Riordan, including 6-3 guard Max Randall, who is averaging 13.5 points a game.
Palma got hot from the perimeter at the right time in Tuesday's win over Half Moon Bay, nailing six 3-point goals, including Jack Brusa's go-ahead shot with under a minute.
If opponents continue to sag down on 6-foot-8 Wyatt Maker, the Chieftains have got to hit the jump shot.
