Catalina-Stevenson softball

 The reigning four-time Mission Trail Athletic League champion Cougars had a rocky non-league, winning just one game.
 Is the window closing on Santa Catalina?
 Not yet.
 Still, you can't skate through the MTAL any longer.
 Remember it was Stevenson that ended Santa Catalina's 37-game MTAL winning streak last year with a 2-1 win behind Jensen Main.
 Main is back throwing darts for the Pirates, striking 13 and eight in two gams this year.
 This is a team with some punch in the heart of the batting order with Dominique Seva'aetasi, Main and Fauve Koontz.
 Having given up 39 runs in four non-league losses, pitching is a slight concern for Santa Catalina, as well as a defense that has 10 errors in five games.
 Offensively, the Cougars have traded power for production as Marisa Bruno, Tatumn Satow, Brenda Melano and Vanessa Furman are all difficult outs.
 Santa Catalina is also mixing in a lot of youth as seven freshmen are on the roster.
