Greenfield and Salinas are on the cusp of completing historic seasons.
There paths to the top of their respective leagues were completely different.
The Bruins started the year 0-2-1 in the Mission Trail Athletic League before going 8-0-2 to move into a tie with Pacific Grove with one game remaining.
Alicia Montanez has set the tone for Greenfield in its quest for its first league title with a team high 20 goals.
Only one other girls program at Greenfield has won an MTAL title and that came last fall when the cross country squad captured a crown.
Salinas got off to a sizzling start in the Gabilan Division and never looked back, as it goes into the final week of the season 8-0-2.
To complete the programs first ever unbeaten league season, Salinas will have to get past Gilroy, a team it played to a 1-1 draw, and rival Alisal, a team it edged 1-0 earlier this year.
