Saturday's game
No. 6 Homestead (15-5-0) vs. No. 3 Alisal (10-2-7) at Watsonville, noon.
Central Coast Section champions two out of the last five years, the Trojans are 1-2-2 against teams in the Division I bracket this year, with both losses coming from unbeaten Watsonville.
Homestead won the SCVAL De Anza Division, opening the playoffs with a season high five goals in shutting out Carlmont.
Alisal has not won a game since Feb. 10. Defense has been its strength as it has held 12 opponents to a goal or less.
CCS Division I playoffs
Saturday's game
No. 8 Alvarez (14-2-4) vs. No. 1 Menlo-Atherton (15-3-0) at Palo Alto, 2 p.m.
Using three goals from Brandon Hernandez and two from Christian Santibanez, the Eagles made a statement in a 5-0 playoff opening win.
Now Alvarez gets the top seed in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division champion Bears, who have rattled off nine straight wins.
Menlo-Atherton has allowed just nine goals all season, shutting out 10 opponents.
The Eagles, who are unbeaten in their last 12 games (9-0-3), have dominated the first half this year, outscoring opponents 38-3. Santibanez has 21 goals and 20 assists this year for Alvarez.
CCS Division III playoffs
Saturday's game
No. 11 Scotts Valley (10-5-4) vs. No. 3 Soledad (14-3-1) at Watsonville, 10 a.m.
Last year's heartbreaking loss in the D3 semifinals has served as motivation all season for the four-time Mission Trail Athletic League champion Aztecs.
Fabian Guzman had carried the offense this year for Soledad with 25 goals and 10 assists while Miguel Chavez produced two goals in the teams last win.
Runner-ups in the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League, the Falcons are unbeaten in their last three games, opening the playoffs with a 3-1 win over Hillsdale.
