After a promising non-league start, in which Salinas won its first five games, it's winless in its last four games, manufacturing just one goal in three Gabilan Division games.
Granted two of those losses have come from nationally ranked Watsonville, both by 1-0 counts.
Yet, if Salinas is going to make some noise in the Gabilan Division, tonight's battle with reigning champion Alisal is a must win.
Falling three games back with eight to play would be crippling.
The Trojans are unbeaten in 10 games -- five of which have ended in ties, including last Tuesday's 1-1 draw with San Benito.
Alisal has produced just three goals in three Gabilan Division games, relying on a defense that has posted five shutouts overall this season.
Javier Montelongo has produced the Trojans' last two goals.
