 The Chieftains may not face a more explosive offensive unit in the Gabilan Division then Monte Vista, which has scored 75 or more points in five games this year.
 Then again Palma's defense clamps down on the opposition, having held 10 teams under 50 points this winter, including the last four.
  Both teams provide a balanced attack with no true dominant scoring presence. Wyatt Maker and his 6-foot-8 frame can create headaches for opponents.
 Yet, the Chieftains are creating points with their tenacious defense, pushing the tempo on the break. You can do that when you have a bench as deep as they do.
 Beating Salinas earlier this season on the road was a signature win for Monte Vista. Knocking off Palma would be a statement.
