Its two best players are scholarship bound in softball.
Basketball isn't the sport of choice for most of the players on the roster.
Yet, after winning just one league game last year, the Spirits have just one league loss this year.
Granted, moving from the Gabilan Division to the Pacific this winter has helped.
That's what the equity league is supposed to do.
But this is also an improved team that has already surpassed last year's entire win total with virtually the same cast from last season.
Oregon University bound Marisa Given continues to torch opponents from beyond the 3-point arc while Sarah Muzik is creating havoc on both ends of the court.
Given is 24 3-point goals shy of 200 for her career while Muzik, who will play softball at Hawaii next spring, is among the team leaders in steals and assists.
However, what Given and Muzik, both seniors, have done this year is make their teammates better around them. Contributions are coming from a different player each game.
As a result, the Spirits stay in the Pacific could be brief.
