The Chieftains went out of house in naming Johnny Ramirez as the new baseball coach.
Ramirez, a former Miami Marlins farmhand, has coached for 15 years, including stops at Gavilan College and Gilroy High
As a prep baseball coach, he won a state title with Belton High in Texas. Ramirez has guided three different baseball programs in the CCS to 10 playoff appearances.
Ramirez is replacing Phil Giammanco, who stepped down last year.
