In time, this year's group of Spirits will reflex on their magical season, which took them to within one win of playing for a state divisional volleyball title.
Sure, Notre Dame had been in a similar position before -- just two years ago.
And that might be the hard part for a pair of seniors that were apart of that team as sophomores.
Yet, perhaps lost in all this is getting to a State Northern California semifinal match doesn't happen that often.
Only two teams in this county have ever gone beyond that in King City in 1990 and Salinas in 2009.
No other program other than Notre Dame has reached the semifinals of the state tournament.
So, it is rare. And special.
