CSUMB men's hoops

Friday's game
UC San Diego (3-1) at CSUMB (3-2), 7:30 p.m.
The Otters are banking on a promising non-conference season to catapult them to bigger things as they open CCAA play tonight, hosting UC San Diego.
Sophomore guard Evan Zeller has gotten off to a sizzling start for CSUMB, averaging 18.5 points in five non-conference games.
Three players are averaging 12 or more points for the Otters, including Greg Anderson and two-year starter Alex Fertig. Anderson is also pulling down nearly eight rebounds a game.
CSUMB will have to neutralize San Diego sharpshooter Drew Dyer, who is averaging over 14 points a game and is hitting 61 percent of his shots from beyond the 3-point arc.
San Diego opened its conference season on Nov. 22, beating Cal Poly Pomona 69-66. It's held three teams under 70 points this year.
In its three wins, CSUMB has held opponents to 66.3 points a game. But in its two setbacks, it has allowed 80 points a game.
