Carmel Tournament resurrected

The longest tenured basketball tournament in the county has been resurrected.
After a one year hiatus, the Carmel Tournament will resume for the 66th year on Thursday.
Failure to turn in paper work to the Central Coast Section on time last year forced the tournament to be canceled.
Ultimately, it cost a handful of teams three games.
That won't be an issue this year as Marina, Monterey, Seaside, Salinas and the host Padres will join a lineup that includes Gunderson, Escalon and Oakwood of Morgan Hill.
Oakwood, who was 23-3 last year as a relative unknown, has rattled off six straight wins, capturing the Bob Hagen Memorial Tournament last week.
Salinas is undefeated this year entering tonight's Santa Cruz Dad's Tournament final and Carmel has won or shared four straight MTAL titles.
