Boys basketball preview XII

Carmel
Having gathered no worse than a share of the last four Mission Trail Athletic League titles, the Padres are in a position to make it 'One for the Thumb'.
Reigning two-time MTAL Most Valuable Player John Stivers is a 6-foot-3 post that can drain jump shots and provide double-doubles on a nightly basis. He will be a force in the MTAL.
Last winter Stivers averaged 17 points a game. The junior has grown another inch and added muscle to his frame.
Stivers won't be the lone option for the Padres. Connor Marden is a three-year starting guard and William Kehoe will be a presence in the middle.
The Padres early season struggles were no surprise. The core of the team spent an extra month out on the football field. It takes time to redevelop that chemistry on the hardwood.
