CCS Division IV playoffs
Saturday's game
No. 5 Half Moon Bay (7-3) vs. No. 4 Carmel (7-3) at Pacific Grove High, 7 p.m.
These two teams engaged in an epic battle in the 2010 semifinals with the Padres rallying for a 42-35 win.
Carmel, which saw its 46-game league winning streak snapped last Saturday, has fallen to three teams this year that won league titles.
The Cougars closed the season with three straight wins to finish in a tie for second in the Peninsula Ocean League.
The last time Half Moon Bay was on the Monterey Peninsula was on Sept. 5 when it feel 48-23 to Monterey.
The Cougars were playing with heavy hearts that night after one of their assistant coaches suffered a heart attack before the game and later passed away.
Half Moon Bay is averaging 44 points a game in its seven wins. It has wins over Menlo and Terra Nova.
Quarterback Connor Marden needs two touchdown passes for Carmel to equal his career high of 31, set as a sophomore in 2012.
The Padres have two receivers with over 50 catches in William Kehoe and John Stivers. A heavy dose of tailback Covossay Windham will keep their defense rested.
