Living Breath Foundation Bowl
Saturday's game
Contra Costa (9-1) vs. Hartnell (9-1) at Rabobank, 1 p.m.
Champions of the American Pacific 7 Conference, Contra Costa went undefeated in conference play, and has rattled off eight straight wins since a loss to West Hills.
Hartnell beat West Hills in the season finale to win the American Golden Coast Conference title -- its third straight conference championship.
This is a rematch of last year's bowl game in which Hartnell prevailed 37-26. In fact, it beat Contra Costa twice last year, scoring 37 points in both wins.
These are two high powered offenses with Contra Costa averaging 41.2 points a game and Hartnell 39 points.
Jonathan Banks has thrown for over 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns for Contra Costa. He also leads the team in rushing at just under 700 yards, with eight rushing touchdowns.
Sophomore quarterback Michael Turner has thrown for nearly 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns this fall for the Panthers, with 10 of those touchdown passes going to his brother Ronnie.
One fourth of Ronnie Turner's 41 catches this year have gone for touchdowns, as he's averaging 21 yards a reception.
Yet, what the Panthers offense has is balance. Sherrod Hawkes has over 1,400 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. And Dominic Miller has five touchdown catches.
Hartnell's defense has been opportunist as Robert Mosley and Chuntony Johnson each have 12 1/2 sacks this year while Nias Martin has seven interceptions.
As a unit, the Panthers have created 24 turnovers.
