Soledad football

Are the Aztecs for real?
Well, we're going to find out on Saturday when Soledad hosts perennial MTAL power Carmel.
A three-game winning streak has at least catapulted the Aztecs into playoff discussion, as they sit just a game behind unbeaten Pacific Grove and Carmel.
Two of Soledad's three overall losses have come on the road to teams that are a combined 12-3.
So the Aztecs are battle tested. And they have given Carmel fits in the past, taking an early lead last year before falling 48-34.
Soledad's defense has allowed just 20 points in the first quarter through seven games -- 14 of which came in one game. In fact, in its four wins, it has allowed just nine points in the first half.
Another loss, though, would give the Aztecs four on the season. I don't know if a six win team can make the playoffs out of the MTAL.
