Salinas football

Steve Goodbody has been willing to take his lumps in non-league play to get his squad prepared for the league season and the postseason.
  Mission accomplished.
The Cowboys are going into November playing arguably their best football of the season after a 56-29 win over once-beaten Alvarez.
As a result, Salinas is going to the postseason for the seventh straight year. One more win and it will likely be the top seed in the CCS Division I playoffs.
The Cowboys schedule this fall included 10 teams that went to the playoffs last year -- two of which won section titles and four of which won 10 or more games last year.
Because Salinas (5-4) won't have its bye until after Week 10, it will get an extra week to gear up for an extended playoff run.
Right now this is a dangerous offense behind quarterback Zach McDermott, that is averaging 38.5 points a game in its last four games, having knocked Monterey from the unbeaten ranks.
