Monterey field hockey

After mustering just two goals in their first four games this year, the Toreadores offense has caught fire, having outscored their last two opponents 18-0.
As a result, Monterey is among three teams chasing reigning champion and unbeaten North Salinas,  as well as a potential playoff spot heading into Thursday's battle with Carmel.
Now the Toreadores have to figure out a way to win at home, where they are 0-2-1 overall this year.
A big part of the offensive surge -- at least on the road -- has been the efforts of Fionna Jensen and Ashley Brady, who piled up a combined 10 goals in their last match.
But it didn't stop there. Five different players have produced goals while Olivia Patania and Suzi Martinez have been distributors at the net.
Defensively, goalie Dina Zawadzki has been a rock all season with 72 saves, having allowed one or fewer goals in four of the teams six games.
