Seaside-Soquel football

Friday's game
Seaside (0-3) at Soquel (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
The Spartans are struggling offensively. Right now, there is no answer as head coach Al Avila tries to find a quarterback.
Of equal concern is a defense spending a long time on the field as evident by having allowed over 1,000 rushing yards in three games.
Having had a bye last week, Soquel will have had two weeks to stew over allowing 61 points to Monterey.
Granted, two of Seaside's losses are to teams that reached the postseason last year. Then again, the Spartans have missed the playoffs just once in the last decade.
Seaside has got to rediscover its running game to chew up the clock and give that defense a chance to catch its breath. A quarterback has led the team in rushing five straight years.
