Friday's game
Salinas (1-2) at Terra Nova (0-3), 7 p.m.
Dating back to last year's postseason, the Tigers have dropped four straight games after winning 10 consecutive to open last season.
Two of the setbacks this year have been by six points or less. Salinas can relate, having dropped two games in the final nine seconds this fall.
Senior quarterback Anthony Gordon was a thorn in Salinas' side last year, throwing for 384 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-13 win.
The 6-foot-3 Gordon is averaging 31 passes a game, having thrown for 813 yards and six scoring strikes in three games. Four receivers have 13 or more catches for Terra Nova.
The Cowboys were victimized through the air in the fourth quarter of last week's heartbreaking 27-21 loss to Sacred Heart Prep, which plays in the same division as Terra Nova.
Bruce Leighton has rushed for over 100 yards in three straight games for Salinas, helping fuel an improved passing game.
Salinas had nearly 400 yards in total offense last week, but gave up 585 yards -- 170 of which came in Sacred Heart's final two drives.
