Menlo-Atherton-Monterey football

Friday's game
Menlo-Atherton (1-2) at Monterey (3-0), 7:30 p.m.
Don't be misled by Menlo-Atherton's 1-2 start. Campolindo is 4-0 after a win over the Bears. Menlo-Atherton's Week 2 opponent Los Gatos is 3-0, having just hammered San Benito.
Last week, Bears quarterback Robby Beardsley completed just nine passes, but threw for nearly 300 yards in a 21-20 win over Riordan.
The likelihood of Monterey averaging 52.3 points a game this year is unlikely. Truth be told, it has not been tested. That could change this week.
Teams that keep kicking to Ryan Reynolds on kickoffs or punts are not paying attention. The kid has run back five for touchdowns for Monterey -- with two others called back.
You can no longer put nine in the box to stop Monterey. Junior quarterback Carter Aldrete has lit up opponents with Reynolds and Michael Armstead on the outside.
