Salinas football

The Cowboys weren't interested in building blocks.
That occurred two weeks ago in falling in the final seconds to Aptos.
This setback, though, which occurred in the final nine seconds to Sacred Heart Prep, burns a little deeper.
Salinas held an eight-point lead with under eight minutes to go - a two-point cushion with 99 seconds left and Sacred Heart Prep needing to go 99 yards.
A Cowboy defense, which had made four stops on fourth down -- two inside the 1-yard line over the course of the game -- were gassed on the Gators 99-yard game-winning drive.
Salinas coach Steve Goodbody challenged his players, telling them 'we can go up or down, but we can't go sideways'.
And there's little time to dwell as Terra Nova awaits.
